Happy New Year!!
I hope you had a great holiday
season with your friends and family. I most certainly
did. Sure I was dieting, but hey Turkey, yams and
green beans make a great Christmas Dinner - just meant
that my wife and her family had to eat what I had
to!! Although, they got to induldge in the pecan pie
I made while I just watched....
Nothing would deter me from
my diet! I am so totally focused on this season's
shows.
Lately, I have heard people
refer to me as the "sleeper" which is a
fairly apt description. Back in 1993 nobody had ever
heard of me and I was convinced by some friends in
the gym to compete in the NPC Ironman, held in Redondo
Beach, CA. The favorite of the show I learned, was
Rob Cormier, brother of Chris Cormier. But, there
I was, a complete no name, and to everyone's surprise
at the show (including my own), I won the heavyweight's
and the overall! I was the sleeper, the one that nobody
thought about, who came out of nowhere to do damage
on stage. I may just be that same bodybuilder again
this season. Certainly, I have a bit more notoriety
than I did back then, but I'll admit I am not always
the name that everyone thinks about come contest line-up
time. So, the "Sleeper" it is...
If you want to get a preview
of what I am going to look like for the show, join
me in my "Countdown
for the Ironman"
so that you can track my preparation with me weekly.
Because I was so dedicated this year and so consistent
in my training and nutrition and getting proper rest,
I am actually in a place I call "growing lean."
You will notice that I am actually fuller, along with
being harder, in my 7 week photos than in the 9 weeks'.
Pretty amazing process the body can go through with
the right kind of dedication. Because my body is so
efficient right now and has been lean so early out
from the show, I am actually going to put on a few
pounds of quality muscle between now and the Ironman!!
Full and hard. I think that's what they say the game
is all about I have never looked forward to a show
as much as I do this year's.
I hope to see you at the Ironman,
the Arnold and/or the San Francisco show. I will
be at the ABB and Weider booths for certain at the
Arnold between the times on stage, so be sure to stop
by and say hello. Thank you to all who have shown
me so much support in 2001 and wishing you all a HEALTHY
& HAPPY NEW YEAR!
